Transitioning between January and February, Crumbl Cookies brought out their tastiest classics. Crumbl Cookies, a Utah cookie shop turned national franchise, offers a robust cookie selection, which changes every week. This week featured delicious flavors based off of classic packaged desserts, such as Hostess CupCakes and Mother’s Circus Animal Cookies.
S’mores: A warm and gooey marshmallow, chocolate drizzle, and graham cracker crumb topping set this cookie up for success. The S’mores cookie has a buttery graham cracker dough, though it doesn’t stand apart much from their ordinary sugar cookie dough. The chocolate chips inside the dough are relatively unnoticeable. However, the toppings tie the cookie together, making it a warm treat oozing with campfire nostalgia. Lackluster base aside, this cookie earns 7.5/10 feathers.
Vanilla Crumb Cake ft. Golden Oreo®: Drawing inspiration from past Oreo themed Crumbl cookies, Vanilla Crumb Cake adds a twist with the addition of Golden Oreos instead of the classic chocolate. It has the most perfect balance out of all the candidates this week, with a warm, vanilla cookie topped with Crumbl’s impeccable cream cheese frosting. Vanilla Crumb Cake receives 8/10 feathers.
Chocolate Mallow Cupcake: This cookie’s appearance resembles the classic Hostess cupcakes, but upon biting into it, you find something entirely different. The chocolate dough has potential, but would be better served warm instead of chilled. It lacks a distinctive sweetness or flavor. The topping is the highlight of the cookie: marshmallow whipped cream paired with a chocolate glaze. However, the topping only makes up for what the cookie’s base lacks, giving it 6/10 feathers.
Sugar ft. Mother’s®️ Circus Animal®️: Though simple, this cookie captures the crumbly interior and sweet icing reminiscent of the classic Circus Animal cookies. The soft dough, filled with white chocolate chips and sprinkles, melts in your mouth, while the icing adds a perfect finishing touch, along with a Circus Animal Cookie on top. However, the icing is scarce and only covers about half of the cookie. If the icing-to-cookie ratio improved, so could the cookie’s score, and so it earns 6.5/10 feathers.
This week, the most basic cookie took the best score– nothing beats Crumbl’s classic cream cheese frosting. While flavors rotate every week, keep an eye out, as this week’s cookies are sure to reappear on Crumbl’s menu within the next few months.
