Column: What’s the Cookie’s Crumbl?

As fall approaches, new seasonal Crumbl Cookie flavors arrive in stores. Crumbl, a national cookie franchise that started as a small Utah shop, offers a new diverse cookie selection every week. This week parades a new lineup of exceptional flavors, including Raspberry Cheesecake and Caramel Pumpkin Cake, to start off the autumn season.

Fried Ice Cream:

This cookie attempts to awaken memories of strolling the county fair with a fried ice cream cone in hand. Composed of a semi-chilled cinnamon base, this cookie is topped with smooth vanilla buttercream and sprinkled with a fried ice cream streusel. Despite its enticing description, Fried Ice Cream does not live up to expectations. The cookie fails to incorporate the frosty taste of ice cream or the signature crunchy texture that sets fried ice cream apart from regular ice cream. With overpowering sweetness and underwhelming flavor, the Fried Ice Cream cookie earns a measly two and a half out of five feathers.

Caramel Pumpkin Cake:

If fall were a cookie, this would be it. This warm, soft, pumpkin cookie is topped with a swirl of smooth caramel cream cheese and a sprinkle of pumpkin cookie crumbs to top it off. Effortlessly light and fluffy, the cookie has the ultimate “fresh out of the oven” flavor. Most Crumbl cookies tend to be overly sweet, but Caramel Pumpkin Cake has a wonderful spice, leaning away from the norm. This spicy and sweet combination is best enjoyed with hot apple cider on a crisp fall day, and deserves a four out of five feathers.

Brownie Batter:

Taking a bite of this cookie, you’ll imagine yourself sneaking bites of unbaked brownie batter in the kitchen. Brownie batter is incredibly rich in flavor, oozing gooey chocolate that melts in your mouth. True to its name, this cookie tastes exactly like brownie batter, accompanied by chocolate chips that are perfectly half-melted. Though the sticky overload of chocolate may stick to the roof of your mouth, this cookie is perfect for chocolate lovers. Brownie Batter earns four and a half out of five feathers.

Raspberry Cheesecake ft PHILADELPHIA® Cream Cheese:

Out of all of this week’s Crumbl cookie options, the mouthwatering Raspberry Cheesecake cookie takes the (cheese)cake. Carefully crafted, the cookie boasts a chewy graham cracker crust, vanilla cheesecake filling, raspberry jelly spread in the center, and whipped cream on top. The crunch of the graham cracker, mixed with the smoothness of cream cheese and the tartness of the raspberry creates the perfect combination. However, it is very messy and is best eaten over a plate or napkin and with a fork. Overall, Raspberry Cheesecake deserves four and a half out of five feathers.
