ASB 2026-27 election: Meet the Candidates
Junior Hazel Hazel Hovey is currently in her second year as part of the Archie Williams Student Body (ASB). She is running to be ASB President. During her time in leadership, she has learned from current ASB president, Alia Torres Cardenas, who has helped mentor Hazel for this role by organizing several events together, including spirit weeks. In the last year, Hazel has helped put together spirit weeks, PTVs, and planned events. Hazel is passionate about school spirit and believes her enthusiasm could make her a strong candidate for a role like this. For the 2026-27 school year, she plans to work with her peers and make changes that benefit them, including more affordable tickets and easier spirit days, to overall increase participation. She spends her time playing volleyball, working at a child aftercare program, and exercising.
Asa is a junior and is currently in his first year of ASB. He is running for ASB president and hopes to revitalize the spirit at Archie Williams by making it a bigger part of the school’s culture. He hopes to make Archie Williams a more inclusive space for everyone; in particular, his conversations with Mr. Ayala about the disconnect some students feel motivate him. In his free time, he loves to play soccer, watch movies with his girlfriend or family, and cook. Asa believes that he will bring the most fun and kindness to the job. He hopes that students feel comfortable bringing any ideas to him, as he wants to advocate for students who feel they can’t express themselves. Asa wants to bring change to Archie Williams by using his leadership and organizational skills to make Archie Williams a place full of happy memories.
Caelan is a junior who is running for ASB president. She believes that her three years of experience in ASB, starting freshman year, and her role as sophomore class president last year have helped her develop a good understanding of how the class works and prepared her well for the position. Caelan believes that one of the things Archie Williams lacks is well-publicized events and plans to improve their publicity to increase attendance. In her free time, she is very involved in ballet and in the Dance Troupe. She served as the head of events this year and organized various school activities, including dances and rallies.
Petra is a junior and currently the president of her class. She is running to be ASB vice president, and her primary goal is to represent less-publicized programs and reduce cliques by promoting unity and interaction among different groups. She is involved in several clubs, sports teams, and both the music and theater departments, and with this variety of activities, she hopes to unify the school and help everyone’s voices become heard. Petra’s hard work ethic and past year in ASB have helped her gain an understanding of what goes on behind the scenes, and she wants to use her knowledge to help her next year. This year, she worked to include the bridge program in PTVs, led a school-wide ICE walkout, and organized a canned food drive. In her free time, Petra runs track and field, plays in a band, and acts. She wants to make the 2026-27 school year the best one yet.
Chris is a sophomore and is currently enrolled in ASB. He is running for ASB vice president. He feels that this past year, leadership hasn’t made as big a difference as it can, and he hopes to change that. Additionally, he believes that a lot of times ASB has good ideas but doesn’t believe in their ability to achieve what they want to do, so they don’t try them. If elected, he plans to test the limits and make changes in the school to increase students’ participation in spirit days and events. He believes that with his experience in ASB, he has a good understanding of how the class runs and what goes into the planning process. He sets himself apart from the other candidates by emphasizing his fresh perspective and openness to listening to what his peers desire. Chris plays varsity water polo and swims for both club and Archie Williams. Ever since his first day of high school, Chris has aspired to be a part of ASB and a leader at this school. His dedication and goals motivate him to ensure all students have a good year.
Rita is a junior running to be the senior class president in the 2026-27 school year. She plans to organize cheaper dances, more senior activities, and bonding experiences if elected. Rita believes she is well-suited for this role due to her natural leadership and strong organizational skills. This year was her first year in ASB, and she ran and planned all the cultural heritage months, as well as ran the ASB social media page. In her free time, she plays soccer, works at The Hub, and loves going to the beach. Rita emphasizes the need for increased school spirit and plans to create a sort of reward system to boost participation.
Alex is a junior in his second year of ASB, hoping to continue into his third year by becoming the senior class president. Alex wants to use his position to build the culture at Archie Williams while bringing the senior class together, with events like senior sunrises, beach days, and senior jerseys. Alex has grown his leadership skills by participating in the making of numerous PTVs that Archie Williams produces. In his free time, he enjoys being on the varsity basketball and golf teams and is constantly looking for something fun and active to do. He hopes to make the next year the best one yet and bring the students closer together than ever before.
Bart is a junior and is running for senior class president for the 2026-27 school year. Bart feels he would make a great senior president because he has lived here all his life and knows the community better than most. He prioritizes kindness and making the Archie Williams community more social and inclusive. He plans to create unity through future class-wide beach days and fun spirit weeks. In his free time, he enjoys being with his friends, playing soccer, and being out and about. He believes his social personality will come in handy for his campaign and give him a step up on his other opponents.
Rocco is a sophomore and one of the two in his class running to be next year’s junior class president. In his last two years as a student at Archie, he has noticed a lack in participation and attendance at school events, and he plans to change that by incorporating more activities and games. If elected, Rocco wants to make the class of 2028 feel more bonded by organizing junior bonfires, sunrises, sunsets, and beach days. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, surfing, and doing ceramics. He believes that to make the 2026-27 school year the best, it’s important to make sure he listens to everyone’s ideas and uses the input of his peers to make important decisions and improve the school’s events and spirit.
Nyla is a sophomore and is running to be next year’s Junior class president. Nyla is currently in ASB and has helped produce PTV videos and contributed to organizing cultural heritage months. She hopes to become class president for her grade and thinks her inclusivity and passion will help the class of ‘28 feel more bonded and connected. Nyla enjoys photography, baking, and spending time with family and friends in her free time. Her main goal is to improve school spirit and already has plans for developing a point system in the 2026-27 school year to achieve this.
Juliette is a freshman this year and is running to be next year’s sophomore class president. Although she isn’t currently enrolled in ASB, she feels she has the qualities needed to lead her class. Throughout her whole life, Juliette has participated in leadership at her synagogue and hopes to bring that experience to this position. She believes the idea of being the sophomore class president means representing her entire grade and reaching out to all groups, not just the more well-known ones. If elected, Juliette’s main priority is community; she’s never been to a school with as much spirit as Archie Williams, and she wants to make sure everyone feels included and heard. In her free time, she rides and trains horses and enjoys running and hiking.
Hannah is a freshman running for sophomore class president. She is passionate about building connections across different student groups and, if elected, wants to create fun, low-pressure events where the whole class can mix and get to know each other. Hannah is running because she wants her sophomore year to be meaningful and memorable for everyone. She prides herself on being approachable and inclusive, making sure all students feel seen. Outside of school, Hannah plays volleyball, is a summer camp counselor, and volunteers with younger kids at Brookside Elementary School.
Aliyah is a freshman and running for sophomore class president. Although she hasn’t held a leadership role before, she believes her desire to improve inclusivity and her fresh ideas qualify her for the position. This year, she established the Black Student Union (BSU) to give students a space to feel supported and heard. She has also noticed that a lot of students don’t attend school events due to issues like transportation and cost, and plans to make them more accessible and enjoyable. In her free time, Aliyah enjoys dancing, listening to music, spending time in nature, and hanging out with friends.
Siha is a sophomore and running to be next year’s treasurer. She is currently enrolled in ASB, and in the past year, she has contributed to the program by planning rallies, dances, and making decorations for the hallways. If elected, she plans to budget responsibly to enhance event participation and improve turnout by focusing on better venues, affordable pricing, and fun activities. Siha has always been passionate about planning and budgeting, and believes her organizational skills make her a perfect candidate. In her free time, Siha likes doing anything active, whether it’s running or hiking, and enjoys painting.
Chloe is a junior and is running for student trustee to the Tamalpais Union High School District (TUHSD) board. As a second-year student in Peer Resource (PR) and someone who is actively involved in the school’s community, she believes this makes her qualified for the role. She is a part of the Archie Williams Dance Troupe, and in her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, hanging out with friends, and being active. Chloe is genuinely interested in the position and, if elected, plans to focus on advocating against yonder pouches and promises to listen to what the students want.
Quilla is a junior and is running for ASB secretary. She is currently in ASB and plans to keep the class organized and ensure students’ ideas are being heard and represented. Quilla believes that her leadership skills and passion for organization make her a good candidate. In her free time, she enjoys musical theater and is currently practicing for the Archie Williams annual musical. In the past year, Quilla has contributed to organizing rallies and spirit weeks. If elected, she wants to prioritize increasing student participation in school activities.
