On Monday, March 16, the Archie Williams Varsity boys lacrosse team defeated the Bay High School Breakers in an assertive home victory. Archie Williams controlled the game and kept their current league record at 4-0. Bay made many attempts, but in the end, the Falcons walked away with a 14-1 win.

Archie Williams completely took the first half, beginning with a quick goal in the first minute by freshman Baker Cashel. The Falcons kept up the pressure and maintained possession of the ball for the better portion of the first and second quarters. Despite that, Bay snuck in with a quick drive and a clean shot at an attempt to even out the score, but fell short.
The Falcons had many more opportunities and capitalized, furthering their lead and bringing the score to 5-1 at halftime.

“At the beginning of the game, we were working on trying to get everyone in. We were trying to communicate better, pass better, and I think we did all those things, which ended up working out,” said senior Matt Chamberlin.
As the second half began, Bay attempted to step up with multiple opportunities on goal but was unable to convert against Archie Williams’ powerful defense. The Falcons continued to take charge, widening the score with multiple well-placed shots while shutting down Bay’s offensive efforts.
“Our goal was to win but also to have good passing, get some strong goals, have good communication, and that’s what we did, so it all worked out,” said sophomore Wade Brown, who contributed a goal and two assists to the team’s victory.
With many strong possessions, the Falcons’ resilient offense put the ball away and secured their lead;

sophomore Winston Gauna delivered the final goal of the game, bringing the final score to 14-1. The team celebrates this victory while looking forward to the rest of the season and the future of this young team.
“As the program develops over time, you want to be able to develop those younger guys that eventually are going to be the starters. We can always work on our stick skills, and we’re still very young. We’ve certainly made a lot of strides since last year, but we have plenty of work left to do,” said head coach Brandon Carney.
The Falcons look forward to continuing their winning record Thursday, March 19, in a home game against Alhambra High School at Red Hill field.
