On Tuesday, April 29, the Archie Williams track and field team took on their rivals, the Tamalpais High School Hawks and Redwood High School Giants, on the Bill Taylor track. The Falcons kicked off the meet by celebrating their beloved seniors with a few special words about each player, followed by the release of pigeons to acknowledge six Archie Williams students recently involved in a fatal car accident. Athletes from all three schools also paid tribute to the affected students by wearing green bows in their hair and on their uniforms.
The Falcons achieved overall success in all their events, with highlights from the boys and girls 1600-meter races as senior Will Mullikin finished first for the boys and junior Ani Stieg finished first for the girls. Each event started with junior varsity girls, followed by junior varsity boys, varsity girls, and ending with varsity boys. The boys team got first place in the meet, finishing in front of Tam and Redwood. The girls team, however, got second place behind Redwood. Archie Williams athletes will run again in the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) qualifiers Thursday, May 8, and the MCAL finals Saturday, May 10.
