On Tuesday, Oct. 17, for the second day of Homecoming spirit week, ASB encouraged Archie Williams students to wear band t-shirts for “Guitar Hero Day”. From the Beatles to Dua Lipa, students displayed their favorite music artists to their peers.

The majority of students who participated in the spirit day wore Nirvana or Rolling Stones t-shirts. However, sophomore Natasha Krauss noticed that very few students dressed up for this spirit day.

“Not many people were wearing band tees. It’s not a very common thing to own, I guess,” Natasha said.

The lunchtime activity for the day was supposed to be a live performance from student band No Signal. However, during lunch, the performance was canceled, replaced with two speakers playing well-known songs in the quad, from “Kill Bill” by SZA to “Santeria” by Sublime.

Senior Max Lefferts, member of No Signal, was disappointed his performance didn’t make it to the stage, citing another bandmate’s emergency causing them to postpone the event.

“One of my band members had a medical emergency issue that he had to deal with today and unfortunately had to cancel. We’re hoping to be out here sometime later in the year, possibly Earth Day,” Max said.

Students were disappointed but still enjoyed their music-filled lunch with the replacement speakers. Freshman Hazel Hovey wished the band had performed but looks forward to seeing it in the future.

“I’m really sad that I wasn’t able to experience live music from our fellow students at Archie Williams, and I hope to see this next year,” Hazel said.

Archie Williams students look forward to today’s spirited adventure, Wii Sports day, featuring the Archie Williams Power Puff game.
