Books that are terrible to read during a shelter in place order
My motif is usually writing about good books and water bottles, but today I’ve decided to share some books that make for terrible reading material during a shelter in place order.
To the Lighthouse. A book about people reflecting on their life choices while on a remote coast.
Lovely Bones. A teenage girl who is murdered by her neighbor is maybe not great to read before going on a solo walk with no one else around except that one neighbor sitting in their car for two hours.
Nineteen Eighty Four. The government surveillance and overarching rules.
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. Really anything with ‘lonely’ in the title might not be great for now.
Tidying up with Marie Kondo. Don’t get any ideas Pam, all Goodwills are closed.
One Hundred Years of Solitude. You get the picture.

Alexandra, I love your angle, but not 100 years. Please.

I love this article, Alexandra. Especially the Tidying Up w/ Marie Kondo reference. That is something I’ve been doing all year, so it made me laugh out loud. I had just taken several bags of clothing to Ms Buchanan for a clothing swap that was set for the day we all went home, so now I feel bad that her house is full of bags of clothes she can’t give away until things get back to normal.
Stay healthy and keep writing!!
