Charlotte Cosentino prepares to follow through on her impressive serve on Friday 9/20

After a nerve-wracking 2nd-round North Coast Section (NCS) game against Branson, the girls’ varsity volleyball team was unfortunately defeated, finishing a strong season with a 4-3 league record and placing fifth at the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) championship.

Some season highlights include the exciting match against Terra Linda on Sept. 13 and 3-0 sweep against Novato later that month on Sept. 20. At Terra Linda, both teams fought hard, but Drake stole the victory in an exciting fifth set. The final score was 15-7.

This year the team is losing graduating seniors Lindsay Nash, Savannah Wandzilak, and team captain Tatum Bugas.

“This year, we had an amazing freshman who became a true leader on the court:  Elsa Snipes. She is very skilled and knows so much about the game from her club experience at Absolute and her natural talent. She not only knows about the game but she is so passionate. She was almost always on the court this year and no matter the score she fought for every point. She is still so young and has so much time on the team and next year I see her being an incredible influence on newcomers to the team,” Bugas said when asked who’s going to step up next year.

Despite several seniors leaving, there are plenty of girls on the team that will continue their strong season into next year.
