Column: What’s the cookie Crumbl?

Crumbl Cookie has become a well-known cookie chain, famous for its rotating menu and creative weekly flavors that often go viral on TikTok for their soft textures and eye-catching toppings. However, this week’s lineup doesn’t quite live up to the usual hype. With the Red Velvet Cupcake Cookie, the Caramel Shortbread Cookie, the Galaxy Brownie Cookie, and the Strawberry Milk Cookie, some creativity is present, but the flavors fall a bit short of Crumbl’s best weeks.

No. 1: Red Velvet Cupcake Cookie

With its deep red color and fluffy cream cheese frosting, the Red Velvet Cookie looks almost too pretty to eat. The cookie felt warm, soft, and easy to enjoy, which made it a delightful experience. The light, creamy frosting paired well with the cookie’s texture —something a bit unexpected given Crumbl’s usual style —but it overpowered the cookie in flavor. There was a good amount of sweetness overall; however, the crust lacked a distinct taste. Despite the cookie’s simple base, its frosting really shone, giving it a well-deserved 4 out of five feathers.

No. 2: Caramel Shortbread cookie (ft. TWIX®)

Caramel Shortbread Cookie ft. TWIX® is served cold, and with the addition of the chewy caramel layer, it was tough to bite into. The sugar cookie base had a nice flavor, but its firm texture made it hard to enjoy. For such a heavy cookie, it delivered less satisfaction than expected, especially considering it packs nearly 800 calories. Though also firm, the rich dark chocolate layer evened out the flavor and balanced the sweet caramel and the shortbread underneath. The caramel flavor was strong and delicious, but the cookie’s texture made it harder to appreciate. Overall, it could be better with less caramel or served warm, but it was a solid and enjoyable cookie; it gets a 3.5 out of five feathers.

No. 3: Galaxy Brownie Cookie

The Galaxy Brownie Cookie is just what the name suggests, a brownie in cookie form. It did not particularly stand out, but it also wasn’t bad. Due to the cookie being very floppy and soft, it was a bit tricky to eat and rather messy. However, the rich, consistent chocolate flavor gave it a comforting feel, and the fudge glaze tasted exactly like brownie batter, adding a nice layer of sweetness. The rainbow candy bits felt more like decoration as they didn’t taste like anything. Since the cookie didn’t stand out but was a solid, comforting experience, it earns a respectable 3.5 out of five feathers.

No. 4: Strawberry Milk Cookie (ft. Pirouline®)

The Strawberry Milk Cookie ft. Pirouline® from Crumbl was also served cold, and underneath the soft strawberry frosting was a firm cookie base. While there was plenty of sweet frosting, its light texture kept the frosting from being overwhelming. The whipped cream on top added little besides extra sugar, and the small rolled crepe seemed purely decorative; it was soggy and difficult to bite. The cookie itself lacked strong flavor, and the strawberry pink shortcake crumbs in the base could have added more pizzazz. Overall, the cookie was very sweet, and although there were some enjoyable elements, its basic taste and lack of distinct flavor made the Strawberry Milk Cookie stand out as a weaker contender in this week’s lineup. Overall, it earned 2.5 out of five feathers.
