From Sept. 29 to Oct. 3, the Archie Williams Associated Student Body (ASB) organized its annual Homecoming spirit week. This Golden State-themed week boosted school spirit and created excitement for Friday’s Homecoming rally and dance, as well as the football game the following afternoon. Students showcased their school spirit throughout the week, wearing pajamas, flip-flops, merch from California sports teams, and class colors for each spirit day.
On Monday, the Falcons arrived at school in their sleep attire for the first spirit day, Pajama Day. Students wore robes, pajama sets, and sweatpants to capture the cozy spirit and match the day’s theme, “California Dreamin’.”

Asa Duisenberg, a junior and ASB member, appreciates that he was able to start the spirit week comfortably.
“This is a great beginning to the week [because I can shake] off the weekend vibes. [A lot of people] like to sleep in on the weekend, so it’s nice to keep that going,” Asa said.
For the second spirit day, Toes Out Tuesday, students wore flip-flops and sandals. Despite the rainy weather, many students still showed up with school spirit. Sophomore Rocco Russ believes Toes Out Tuesday was a success, and encourages students to continue their spirit even when it seems inconvenient.
“I love having my [toes] out on a rainy day… If you have enough spirit, then anything’s possible,” Rocco said.
On Wednesday, Falcons wore jerseys from their favorite California sports teams or colleges for Jersey Day. Many seniors wore their senior jerseys instead to showcase their class pride. While the rain continued, many students wore their jerseys over their sweatshirts and sweaters.
At lunch, upperclassman girls went head-to-head in a Powerpuff flag football game. The seniors came out on top, scoring three touchdowns to the juniors’ one, with a final score of 18-6. ASB members provided hot cocoa and snow cones for students who came to the football field to support.
Sophomore Minna Zickler brought spirit to school every day to make Homecoming week enjoyable.
“I think [spirit week] brings people together, and it’s nice to see everyone dress up,” Minna said.

On Thursday, the Archie Williams campus was closed for a school holiday, and students and faculty took the day off.
For Friday, the final day of the spirit week, ASB assigned colors for each class in preparation for a school-wide rally. Freshmen wore orange, sophomores blue, juniors yellow, and seniors pink.
Later that day, students and faculty were invited to the gym for the culminating event: the Homecoming rally. Many of the fall varsity sports teams performed dances to energize their classmates. The rally included games, dances from varsity sports teams, and information about the Homecoming dance, filling the gym with energy and school spirit.

Along with the other festivities, ASB revealed the 2025 Homecoming court with an unraveling of colorful roses. Of the eight seniors who were nominated, Hanna Janson, Georgia Silva, and Jamie Lapic were crowned this year’s royalty.
Senior Fiona O’Connor is grateful for ASB’s effort to unify the school community through the rally.
“ASB always does a great job, and the rallies always help set a positive tone and get everyone excited for the dance,” Fiona said.
Despite the dreary weather, the halls of the Archie Williams campus were filled with spirit for the 2025 Golden State Homecoming spirit week. Archie Williams students look forward to more spirit weeks later this year, including ones leading up to future dances.
