From the beginning of May to the end of October each year, the town of Fairfax hosts the Fairfax Community Farmers Market every Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Peri Park. Local vendors come to the market to sell a wide range of products, including fresh produce, baked goods, art pieces, and more. This weekly event provides a space for the local community to come together and support local vendors.

Offering goods, many dinner options from different cuisines, and an energetic environment, the market shows how much its sense of community matters to everyone from vendors to customers alike. Finn Walcroft, a vendor from Walcroft Artisan Bakery, finds the community to be very special.
“The community and the vendors are all a tight [community]…We all get along [and] we all talk at breaks,” Walcroft said.
Booths that specialize in produce offer samples of their products for customers to try. Ivan Garcia is a vendor for Rodriguez Farms, which frequently attends the market selling berries.
“I’ve been working here for three years… it’s nice going around and seeing different people in every booth… There are just a lot of nice people here [compared to other markets],” Garcia
said.
Initially, only produce was sold at the market, but now attendees can find handmade goods, like jewelry, and engaging opportunities at stands like henna, balloon animals, and even massages. In addition to booths, the market often hosts live music for patrons to enjoy.

The market has had different managers and layouts through its evolution. This year, attendees lay out blankets on the grass to provide a spot to eat and sit throughout the night. Alex Spilger, a regular at the market, whose wife Amelia was a past manager of the market, has observed how the market’s floor plan has changed over the years since Amelia was manager.
“The layout has changed over the years… but they have since moved the farmers to the grassy area, and the food trucks [to the trees]. Now there’s better flow,” Spliger said.
The Fairfax Farmers Market will continue to be held every Wednesday night, from 4-8 p.m. It will feature live music, interactive booths, and local vendors until Friday, Oct. 29, after which it is expected to return in the spring of 2026.
