Spirit Day Two: Happy Gilmore

Senior Elinori Guidinger putters his way to his seventh period class during Tuesday’s Happy Gilmore Day.

After a day of cozy wear, Archie Williams students came to school Tuesday dressed in golf outfits in celebration of Happy Gilmore Day. Keeping with the 2023 Prom theme A Night at the Oscars, ASB named every spirit day after popular hit movies, such as Happy Gilmore, The Breakfast Club, and A League of Their Own.

To show school spirit, ASB encouraged Falcons to wear polos, golf skirts, khakis, and visors. Senior Evan Ticknor noticed that student participation was not as high during Happy Gilmore Day in comparison to Monday’s spirit theme, Breakfast Club Day.

“I understand [not dressing up] today because golf is more difficult in terms of clothing,” Evan said.

During lunch, ASB invited students to practice their golf swing at a makeshift driving range on the baseball field. While Falcons practiced their golf swings, nearby speakers played country music. Senior Elinori Guidinger enjoys playing golf outside of school and took the lunchtime event as an opportunity to teach his friends.

“[The driving range] is actually kind of fun, most of my friends are here and it’s just fun to be out in the sun… swing around, and enjoy myself,” Elinori said.

Elinori has a close relationship with the sport, so Happy Gilmore Day proved something to look forward to.

”I’ve been playing golf since I was three and this was the only time I felt motivated to actually do spirit week, and I had everything in my closet for this,” Elinori said.

Wednesday’s spirit theme, A League of Their Own, will continue Happy Gilmore Day’s sports oriented theme.
