A note taped on the door of the outside of Fradelizo’s announcing their temporary closure due to fire in between a wall bordering neighboring business Bah mi Bah.

An electrical fire sparked around 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, Apr. 14, at one Bolinas Rd. in the wall between the restaurants Fradelizio’s and Bah Mi Ba. The fire was deemed “under control” as of 3:14 p.m., Ross Valley Fire tweeted.

While the fire was between Fradelizo’s Ristorante, a beloved Fairfax Italian restaurant, and Bah Mi Ba, a recently opened Vietnamese street food restaurant, other Fairfax businesses were affected too. The neighboring Japanese pub, Village Sake, closed its doors for the night as the gas was shut off to the entire building.

The damage and trigger of the fire are currently undetermined.

“[The damage to the building is] tough to say at this point, there is definitely damage in the wall but we’re hoping that both Fradelizio’s and we can open soon,” said Scott Porter, Bah Mi Ba co-owner.

Porter is grateful for the Ross Valley Fire Station 21’s assistance.

“It lasted about 30 minutes, [it lasted] until the fire department got here… the fire department did a great job,” Porter said. “It will be a setback but hopefully a short one.”

Roads into downtown Fairfax were reportedly backed up this afternoon with traffic; Broadway St. was shut down until the Bolinas-Broadway intersection. However, by 7 p.m., traffic flow in downtown Fairfax was back to normal.

Bah Mi Bah and Fradelizio’s hope to return back to business as soon as the structures are deemed safe to operate out of.
