Fire begins in Lucas Valley, evacuation orders called off

On Sept. 1st at approximately 2:27 p.m, a brush fire began on Mt. Lassen Drive and Idylberry Road near Lucas Valley in Terra Linda. This fire (dubbed the Lassen Fire) caused local authorities to put evacuation orders in place in Lucas Valley, which were lifted as of 6:10 p.m. This fire was first reported by a Nixle App alert posted by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

As of 5:40 p.m, the Marin County Fire Department said that the Lassen Fire is 80 percent contained. This fire has burned approximately 30 acres, but has not caused damage to any structures.

According to Sergeant Brenton Schneider of Marin County Sheriff’s Department on KTVU News, the fire will reach 100 percent containment by Thursday morning. Evacuations invoked by Marin County Sheriff extended to residents located on Las Gallinas Avenue and Bridgegate Drive. These evacuations have since been downgraded to “warnings.”
