Girls Swimming

The undefeated women’s swim team is plunging into their season. Seated in first place, the girls have had an outstanding season under coaches Dave and Mike Fahy.

“They both bring different aspects to the team, on a personal level and in the pool,” senior Tori Brown said.

The coaches have helped guide the girls towards the victories they have had, but a few key athletes have played an important role in the team’s success as well.

“People who pull our team through every time are Anna Bauer and Bella Moynihan,” junior Anna Gregory said.

With MCALs on the horizon, the Pirates are looking to stay ahead of Tam, their biggest rival this year. MCALs will be on Friday, May 4 at home.

Baseball

The 2018 varsity baseball team looks strong, as captains Case Delst, Isaac Friedenberg, Ryan McLaughlin, and Eamonn Lance are looking to lead the team to a second MCAL championship in a row and put another banner on the left field wall.

The Pirates began their season record in league at 12-2, in first place heading into the end of the season. With losses to Branson and Tam, they want nothing more than to see them in playoffs to prove to them they didn’t earn those wins.

“We never let a win get too big, we never think a team is too small. Coach Mosley tells us to keep our foot on their throats and put the game away early.”  junior Friedenberg said.

The game plan works, as their first place MCAL record of shows. If they keep putting in the work, keep their foot on the gas, and stay hungry they look to be the first seed in the upcoming MCAL playoffs.

“The mindset doesn’t change, were going to keep doing what we’re doing because it’s working and there’s no need to fix it. We can’t let any team change our play style because we’ve beaten every team. Just got to keep doing us.” Friedenberg said.

Boys Tennis

The boys tennis team opened the 2018 season with a victory over San Marin, and continued their strong MCAL play, finishing 10-4 and as the highest ranked NCS Division II team in the league.  Seniors Conner Worthington, Jackson Mayes, and Matous Young all had impressive seasons individually.

Some highlights from the season included wins over Marin Catholic and Branson to clinch the third seed heading into the MCAL tournament. In the semifinal match against Tam, the boys fought to the end. Worthington and Mayes played in a tough doubles match and 2-star recruit sophomore Lucas Bachman took victory in his singles match.

“The season has been great for us, I love how diverse and fun this team is.” Worthington said.

Tennis started NCS tournament play on Friday, May 4.

Softball

The girls are making history in sports after their first win against Novato. Girls softball has had some exciting moments this spring.

Girls softball defeated Novato in their first big win of the season on March 12 under new coach, Andrew Koblich.  The 13 – 10 victory was a big deal for the girls.

“I was really excited,” sophomore Anna Jay said. “It felt like our hard work throughout the year had paid off. I think it was really good for the team’s spirit.”

The 10-7 win was just a bonus for the girls, but the fun of the game is what draws them to play.

“We’re such a random group, it’s amazing that we have all come together from every corner of the school,” Jay said.

Team dinners and team bonding sessions have brought the team together this year.
