With new seasons come new seasonal treats, and this fall, easy-to-bake cookies arrive to line the shelves with fun Halloween themes to try. These ready-to-go recipes turn baking into a simpler process, with premade dough and toppings. While some cookies are worth your time, others do not live up to expectations, being the real horror of the spooky season.

Pillsbury™ Ready to Bake!™ Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (Baked):

This delicious goodie has always been and will always remain a classic fall staple, a chocolate chip cookie that is a wonderful reminder of crisp fall days from seasons past. The delectable treat flaunts a warm and gooey center crisped on the edges, with chocolate chips nestled within the cookie that blend magnificently in your mouth. This baked goodie with a sweet yet salty flavor earns four out of five feathers.

Pillsbury™ Ready to Bake!™ Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (Raw):

A variation on the baked version, this dough is identical to regular cookie dough, except omitting the raw egg. The dough consists of the sweet stickiness of usual cookie dough, and with evenly dispersed chocolate chips, it offers up the perfect amount of sweetness with each bite. This dough tastes just as good raw, if not even better than the baked version, earning itself four-and-a-half out of five feathers.

Nestle® Toll House® M&M’S® Ghoul’s Mix Halloween Sugar Cookie Dough:

Hopes were high for this spooky, Halloween-themed treat, but unfortunately, it does not deliver. While well-baked, crispy on the edges, and soft in the middle, it is unfortunately bland, like a sugar cookie without enough sugar. The Halloween sprinkles added a pop of color but didn’t contribute much to the cookies’ flavor, earning this sugar cookie two out of five feathers.

Sweet Loren’s Cookie Dough Pumpkin Spice:

This cookie is supposed to encapsulate the warm flavors of fall, but did not live up to expectations. Its golden-brown appearance looks delicious, yet draws consumers in for a disappointing experience. The flavor of pumpkin spice largely overpowered the cookie without much else to balance the strong taste, feeling similar to eating a straight-up cinnamon stick. With too much flavor and too little sweetener, this flop of a fall cookie receives one out of five feathers.
