New course offering possibilities

At the most recent Student Senate meeting, senators compiled a list of desired new classes and programs for the upcoming years. From this list, advisories voted on their favorites and the survey results will be out soon. Once the survey data is reviewed, final recommendations will be made to the teachers.

The list of possible new classes/programs included: Pre-med/Bio-Med/Med tech classes or a possible academy; Life Skills; more languages including Sign Language; and Marine Biology.

The list of desired advanced placement classes are: government, Spanish literature, French, economics, European history, physics, and honors pre-Calculus and the Capstone Program. According to the College Board’s website this program “is built on the foundation of two new AP courses – AP Seminar and AP Research – and is designed to complement and enhance the in-depth, discipline-specific study provided through other AP courses.” Redwood offers this course currently and it has been approved by the district.
