After a hard-fought game against Redwood on November 2nd, Drake football ended a difficult season with 2-8 overall record.

The most thrilling game so far was the Homecoming game against Terra Linda on Oct. 19th, which featured an 18 point comeback in the fourth quarter. The Pirates tied the game with three touchdowns, sending the match into overtime. A tense battle followed, with Terra Linda, unfortunately, winning in triple overtime.

“This year’s highlights were just the team’s comradery and how no matter what, we had each other’s backs,” senior and defensive middle linebacker Ren Gaul said.

This is the final season for a solid senior squad, many who have played all four years. Ajai James, Josh Condry, Nic Migliore, John Warren, Max Wilson, Andre Lopez, Phoenix Lynch, Denzel Castillo, Dominic Macaulay, Tomas Echenique, Parker Leopold, Julian Whiteduck-Bobb, Marty Conway, Symon Marcotte, Cristian Antonini, Milo Braun, and Ren Gaul are all graduating this year.

Despite the loss of so many players, there are high hopes for next year.

When asked who will step up next year, Gaul said, “In my eyes I see Jack Raskowsky and Diego Thorsen stepping up as leaders on the field.” Regardless, it’s clear that the seasons to come will be a period of new growth and leadership.
