Drake water polo season ends with a slam

The Drake water polo wraps up their memorable fall 2019 season. Both the boys’ and girls’ varsity teams recently defeated Tamalpais High School in the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) finals. Also, both teams made it to North Coast Section (NCS), where their seasons continued.

The boys battled Tam in their MCAL final. The final score was 11-8 on November 2, resulting in an exciting victory. Their season is sadly over as they lost their first-round NCS game against San Ramon Valley High School on Thursday, November 7. They lost 13-2 after putting in a valiant effort.

“Overall, it was a great season, though, and I’m super sad it’s over. We are graduating a lot of seniors, but there is still a lot of talent on the team,” said Ray Holmberg, the goalie for the boys’ Varsity A team.

The girls’ played against Tam as well for MCAL final. They ended with a score of 7-5 on November 2, with the girls winning. The win secured the number one seed in NCS with a bye in the first round. After a win in second-round and the semi-final, they will compete for the NCS title on Saturday, November 16, against James-Logan.
