If you are expecting a satisfying hour and thirty-eight minutes of wholesome entertainment, The Peanut Butter Falcon will surprise you with depth and humor.

The Peanut Butter Falcon takes place in present-day North Carolina, along the Outer Banks. Zack (Zack Gottsagen), a man with down syndrome, was put in a nursing home by the state, where he was cared for by Elanor (Dakota Johnson).

When Zack decides to pursue a professional wrestling career, he escapes his nursing home, and becomes known as “The Peanut Butter Falcon.” On the run, Zack comes across Luke (Shia LaBeouf), a man with financial troubles and who is hiding from his coworkers. Luke takes Zack in, and the film follows their journey to get Zack to a wrestling training camp.

The film impeccably interweaves serious topics and issues with plenty of comedic relief. It showcases the role of love, compassion, and friendship in helping people move forward in their journey of life.

Luke understands Zack and sees him as a human being first, before his Down Syndrome. He helps Zack have a life outside of his disability, and to experience everything he was denied earlier in his story.

This movie had elements of bonding, accepting, and love: the fundamentals of great emotional films. The Peanut Butter Falcon is now a personal favorite, making it a ten out of ten.
